October video tutorial

Hello to all! It's me Maya here with a video tutorial of my mixed media card "Dark Elegance" for you!

I'm on the rock team, and our October song is "Dark Necessities" by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. You can see more song interpretations from our DT members on the October 1st reveal and the mid-month reveal. Like the lyrics mentioned on the song, "Dark necessities are part of my design", I used black and purple color to interpret the mysterious feeling as felt in the song.

Here are some more close ups.

Also, this is the how-to video of how I created the card. Enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you gained some inspiration from my video and our team reveals. There are still two weeks to enter our October challenge. Come to join for some fun and prizes! Looking forward to discovering your takes. : )

October 15 and time for the second half of our design team to show their stuff!

Hey all you spooks and goblins are you enjoying cool weather and the leaves falling?  Are you making trips to the pumpkin patch and making pumpkin pies?  I am enjoying the cooler weather but I haven't made any pies.  Sssh my pies come from the grocery store!!!  Well it is time for our second half of the design team to show you some more inspiration with the pop and rock songs for this month.

Lets see what the Pop Chicks have for your Inspiration:

The song started with some creepy scary music and that is how it inspired me to make this layout of my granddaughter and her halloween costume from last year.  She was a creepy cat.

I went totally off the MAD in the title from the pop song! Mad Maddox didn't like his shades on this morning so his daddy is holding them down while MiMi got a quick phone snapshot! I am happy to have finally got to use some gesso...see the arrow? Used a stencil and had lots of fun with this layout. ~go to my blog for more details-thx! and, Happy Fall Y'all!!~

My brother has a Halloween party and haunted house every year, so I used the title mad house for these photos.

Lets see what the Rock Chicks have for your Inspiration:

This layout measuring 6x6 starring this beautiful friend's photo of the hills of Bologna ... the dawn of a new day dispels darkness :)

Hello to all, here I am with my work of the month: I chose a stamp with a sad girl that fitted the theme of this month. It felt that sadness and darkness was perfect. I hope you like it!

Hello to all! Today I'm sharing with you my mixed media card that was inspired by our October rock song: like the lyrics mentioned on the song, "Dark necessities are part of my design", I used black and purple color to interpret the mysterious feeling as felt in the song. Please come back here on 18th at Scrap It With a Song for a video process to discover how I created this card. : )

Hello to our October guest designer

This month we are very happy to welcome Lizzy Hill as our guest designer! She made a wonderful layout based on our rock song for October "Dark Necessity" by Red Hot Chili Peppers (you can see October challenges here).

Let's meet Lizzy:
"Hi! I’m thrilled to be Guest Designer for Scrap it With a Song this month!
My name is Lizzy Hill. I come from the Central Coast, NSW in Australia & I’m addicted to scrapbooking. Aren’t we all? But it’s a good addiction ‘cos it means you get to meet wonderful peeps, go in awesome challenges & sometimes get featured like today!
I started scrapping around 7 years ago. I tend to like strong colours and elements, but I’ll have a go at anything, because most of all I love to challenge myself to do stuff I don’t normally do. And I’m perfectly happy making cards, layouts, Project Life or Happy Mail!
I’m currently on a few scrap challenge teams and have been published in some scrap mags, all of which I enjoy immensely. Feel free to check out my blog. My blog is at  & I tend to blog every couple of days, because I’m a bit of a ‘serial’ scrapper. Besides, I’ve 2 grown boys, 3 little grand boys & a VERY extended family of ‘steps’ that provide me with plenty of scrappy ‘fodder’.

I hope my page gives you some inspiration for this month’s challenge!"

I took inspiration from some of the words in the song: 'Go', 'Deep at Play' and 'World at your command'. To me, they fitted beautifully with my step Grand Girls who decided, whilst at the local play ground to play 'models' and used the sand pit platform for their 'cat walk'!!!

Thank you so much Lizzy for being with us again, we all love your colorful works!
If you would like the chance to be our guest designer in the future, go se our October challenges: maybe you could be our pick for next month!
